Employee recognition is acknowledging an employee’s exceptional behavior, effort, or actions that support the organization’s goals and values and exceed expectations. Cape Fox Corporation (CFC) has many employees who have stood out and been recognized for their tremendous efforts. Cape Fox Facilities Services (CFFS), a CFC federal subsidiary, has one such employee deserving of praise and respect. Layla Purdy has shown herself to be a remarkable team member and an excellent employee who often surpasses expectations, demonstrating her exceptional dedication to the mission and her work. As a result, Layla was nominated for a Cape Fox Tinàa Award for Employee Excellence. This award is given to employees who demonstrate dedication, performance, dependability, productivity, and attitude.
Layla started working for CFFS as a Behavioral Health Technician on the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) contract in October 2023. She cares deeply for service members and their mental health. She enjoys talking with service members and working with command teams to destigmatize mental health care. Layla hopes to continue building programs for INSCOM that will provide early intervention and break down the unique barriers they face to accessing mental health care.
This passion for service has garnered her well-deserved attention. Dr. Tiffany Brakefield-Allen, Command Psychologist for INSCOM, recently commented, “Layla goes above and beyond in her duties as a Behavioral Health Technician. She finds a way to connect with unit members and is a valued asset to the team. At a meeting for INSCOM senior leaders, two different Command Sergeant Majors spoke highly of her and noted that because of her presence in the unit, she had ‘likely saved the lives of at least four soldiers.’ Layla is always ready to pitch in for her team and is an excellent Behavioral Health Technician. We are lucky to have her skill set.
Prior to working for CFFS, Layla was a dedicated member of the United States Air Force. While in the military, she acquired technical training for mental health service, where she gained intensive knowledge and understanding of her position as a Behavioral Health Technician in the Air Force. Since her formal Air Force training, Layla has served with the 175th Medical Group, Maryland Air National Guard. After her Air Force training, Layla worked as a Behavioral Health Technician with firefighters, a Psychiatric Case Manager for the State of Maryland, and a Legal Advocate for veterans with disability claims. Layla has brought her expertise and passion for helping our military members gain the mental health assistance they need, and she is dedicated to that mission.
CFFS is honored to spotlight such a remarkable individual and to have her on our team. She has truly stood out for her dedication, expertise, passion, and commitment to the work’s mission. Thank you, Layla.
