Phil Jackson, a former basketball player and famed coach of the L.A. Lakers, said, “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team. – Phil Jackson.” Cape Fox Corporation (CFC) and Cape Fox Shared Services (CFSS) have often stood out for the expertise provided behind the scenes in such areas as accounting. The work of two CFSS employees recently stood out in an exceptional way for their drive, commitment, and proficiency in helping out on contracts so that the company can maintain its financial standing. Phuong Tran and Karina Quintanilla shine in the spotlight for their work. Both employees have been exceptional assets to the CFSS Accounting team. As a result, CFSS proudly presents Phuong and Karina with a Cape Fox Tinàa Award for Employee Excellence. This award is given to employees who demonstrate dedication, performance, dependability, productivity, and attitude.
First, we want to speak about Phuong’s longtime commitment to CFSS. Phuong was hired in March of 2019. She is currently a Billing Manager and oversees Senior Project Accountants for all federal entities. She reviews cash receipts, supports Program Managers, guides her team, and helps resolve billing and contract closeout issues.
While Karina did not start with CFSS until July 2023, she has stood out from the beginning. She is currently a Senior Project Accountant supporting Cape Fox Federal Integrators, Saxman One, Kwáan Tech, and Cape Fox Endeavor. A good part of her role involves billing, project setup, contract closeout, review of expense reports, and Accounts Payable (AP) vouchers for her entities. She is also responsible for collections, applying cash receipts, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, journal entries, project status reports (PSR) reviews, and income statement reviews for her entities.
Both Phuong and Karina were nominated for a Cape Fox Tinàa Award by CFFI Project Manager and Director of Operations for Cape Fox Mission Systems, Tyrone Smith. Tyrone recently said, “I’d like to acknowledge Karina and Phuong for performing at a high level in delivering short-notice suspense to the government for the DCGS ECC and the RPA SOC contracts. Phuong and Karina have minimized the time I spend putting together travel expense report documents for the government customer tremendously; I truly appreciate their hard work.”
The gratitude Tyrone expresses on the exceptional work from Phuong and Karina is shared by the Accounting team and all of CFSS. Supporting the team is important to both Phuong and Karina and this is expressed in their personal lives as well. Outside of work, Phuong enjoys cooking for her family, maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, appreciating fashion, dressing up, and celebrating various festivities with her close friends and family. Karina likes to hike, go for long drives, and enjoy good food. She has a positive outlook and the ability to find humor in different situations. Due to these traits, she can bond very easily with others and find joy in everyday moments.
CFSS delights in spotlighting both Phuong and Karina for their remarkable contributions to the mission and work and for their commitment to their team. Thank you, Phuong and Karina.
