This award is presented to employees who stand out for their dedication, performance, dependability, productivity, and attitude. Hana’s expertise and dedication to her work has produced positive results. She is an asset to the Eagle Health team and Cape Fox.
Hana is a Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certified Audiology Technician. She began working with Eagle Health in November 2020 at Fort Bliss, Texas to support the U.S. Army Audiology contract. Hana’s duties include:
- Conducting the Department of Defense (DoD) Hearing Booth Technician Certification Course for over 40 active-duty service members and DoD Civilians
- Conducting all required Hearing Exams for: In Processing, ETS / PCS, Schools Packets, Chapters, Retirement, IDES/MED-BOARD, and Physicals
- Simultaneously conducting hearing readiness exams, pre-and post-deployment hearing exams, and training soldiers
Recently, the Chief of the Hearing Program at Fort Bliss recognized Hana for her “tireless work during the COVID-19 recovery period and backlog. The staff worked to increase the Installation’s Hearing Readiness by 7% between November 2020 and July 2021 ultimately exceeding medical readiness standards.”
COVID-19 brought procedural changes to the Hearing Program when they adjusted from being a walk-in clinic to appointment-only. These changes resulted in increased calls and emails for the staff who still had to maintain the daily duties. This 10-month period required continuous planning, execution, accountability, and flexibility to implement and enforce the COVID-19 mitigation measures. In addition to the changing measures put in place for COVID-19, the Hearing Program implemented a new type of inspection at Fort Bliss where staff completed over 20 inspections during the COVID-19 pandemic. In conjunction with the inspections, the staff assisted with providing unit hearing health education and over 100 medical hearing protection fittings, significantly reducing the chances of Soldiers experiencing an acoustic trauma.
Throughout all the changes and accommodations that were instituted as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hana continued to perform her job exceptionally and stood out for her ability to be flexible and adapt to each transition. Hana proudly hails from the island of American Samoa. The passion she brings to her job also shows in her personal life. She is an avid traveler, reader and explorer. She derives extreme gratification when she is able to help people. Eagle Health is thankful to have Hana on our team. Her high-performance level makes her a remarkable asset. Thank you, Hana!
