Cape Fox Mountain Point Wins USACE Mobile District Task Order to Remediate Petroleum-Contaminated Soil in the Florida Keys

Construction | Contract win | Florida Keys | Fuel Remediation | Petroleum Contanimated | US Army | USACE

Cape Fox Mountain Point (CFMP), a subsidiary of Cape Fox Federal Contracting Group (FCG), has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, to perform fuel-dispenser spill remediation at a federal installation in Key West, Florida.

CFMP will remove petroleum-contaminated soil that remains around a fuel dispenser following an earlier fuel release at the Key West federal installation. The team will excavate impacted soil, working carefully to protect the integrity of the dispenser foundation slab, and will screen the excavation with field instruments.

To confirm that the cleanup meets regulatory standards, the team will collect soil samples from each sidewall and the base of the excavation, install two temporary groundwater monitoring wells, and analyze all samples through an accredited laboratory. All work follows Chapter 62-780 of the Florida Administrative Code, Florida Department of Environmental Protection sampling guidance, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

“Fuel-release sites near open water leave no room for error, and the Corps needs a partner that can move fast without cutting corners,” said Jamie Palutis, Director of Environmental Services at CFMP. “Our team will remove the contamination, protect the surrounding waters, and hand the Corps a clean site that meets Florida’s closure standards. That is the standard we hold on every remediation project we take on.”

This award builds on CFMP’s environmental remediation portfolio with the USACE. CFMP performs soil and groundwater sampling and testing, waste-site investigations, remedial action planning, and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater using both excavation-and-disposal and in-situ treatment methods.

Federal agencies with contaminated sites, underground storage tank closures, or broader environmental restoration needs can contact FCG at [email protected] to explore solutions that meet your mission needs. Sole-source and direct awards shorten the procurement timeline and put a qualified remediation team on site sooner.

FCG is the government contracting division of the Cape Fox Corporation family of companies, an Alaska Native Corporation supporting Tlingit shareholders near Ketchikan, Alaska. Through its family of subsidiaries, Cape Fox delivers professional services, information technology and cybersecurity, logistics, medical and scientific services, facilities, environmental services, and training to federal customers worldwide.
